Bastien Bomans

Bastien Bomans holds MAs in Germanic languages and literatures (ULiège, 2018) and in gender studies (UCLouvain, 2019), and is working as a PhD candidate at the University of Liège (Belgium) in the postcolonial research unit CEREP (http://www.cerep.ulg.ac.be). His thesis project sheds light on various novels from Trinidad and its diaspora and aims at offering a multidimensional reading of these works through a lens that is simultaneously queer and intersectional. This analysis intends to explore the ways in which queer Trinidadian fictional literature dismantles dominant one-dimensional understandings of nonnormative sexualities and genders. Bastien’s research interests include postcolonial, decolonial, Caribbean and diasporic theories and literatures, as well as feminist, gender and LGBTQIA+ studies.
